Or at least those were my reasons for trying to navigate Second Life...:-)

"A Little Grafting of Second Life into a Legal Research Class" by Rob Hudson, May 9, 2008
Testing the educational potential of Second Life as a supplement to classroom instruction occurred over the duration of a seven week
As the class evolved, Second Life was used in the following three ways: First, it was used as an immersive, interactive exhibition for students on issues and agencies involved in international law. A tour was provided within Second Life for law students to virtual offices of international law firms, courts, libraries, and government agencies with Second Life presences....
The second method of incorporation involved a special event hosted by Mr. Paulo Casaca, a member of the European Parliament, European Union. His Second Life talk was on the international legal implications of using EU airports to refuel airplanes transporting prisoners to Guantanamo Bay....
The third way Second Life was incorporated...was student initiated. One of the students could not attend the last meeting of the International Legal Research Skills class, but was scheduled to give a short presentation of his research pathfinder that day. He proposed to give it in avatar form to the class from within Second Life...

Item #2183 (19 Apr 2008 15:07) - Virtual Law Worlds (Second Life) From: Lyonette Louis-Jacques <llou@MIDWAY.UCHICAGO.EDU> Subject: Virtual Law Worlds (Second Life) Comments: To: Foreign & International Legal Research Bonjour, everyone! I'm participating in this course called "Law Librarians in Virtual Worlds" which is all about how Second Life can be used in law libraries. It also covers how Second Life is also being used by lawyers, law professors, government agencies, and From the introductory webinar on April 16th, I found out that the Portuguese Ministry of Justice has a spot on Second Life and arbitration have or will take place there? Also, an international legal research class attended a UN session on Second Life. I'll try to find out more about foreign, comparative, and international law-related activities and presenses on Second Life as the course continues (it's through August 2008).
Part of adjusting to Second Life is getting your avatar to move around comfortably. So far, I've drowned my avatar in the ocean, stranded it in unchartered territory in Second Life (or it seemed that way), and gotten it lost all sorts of places. But once you learn how to walk, teleport, adn fly, you can tour law spots on Second Life and attend classes.
One of the coolest feelings in Second Life is flying: http://blog.case.edu/lev.gonick/2007/03/19/exp_flying.jpg Note that you may need like a T1 line and 32-bit graphics, etc.; sometimes it seems as if when you're logged onto Second Life, you can't do anything else on your machine)
